(VOVworld) The Theoretical Council of the Party Central Committee convened its 2^nd session in Hanoi on Wednesday to review last year’s activities and discuss this year’s plans. High on the agenda were also theoretical and practical issues in preparation for the amendments and supplements to the 1992 Constitution. Addressing the meeting, State President Truong Tan Sang called on the Theoretical Council to closely follow the government resolution 11, increase theoretical research, assess practical issues, and exchange experiences with foreign organizations. He said:“We still have unsolved issues which have been discussed in many meetings. It is very important to mobilize the intellectuality of the Council as a whole so as to increase the council’s role and position to provide the Politburo and Party’s Central Committee with both theoretical and practical issues.”

President Sang also noted issues needed further research such as the socialism model and the path to socialism; development of an independent economy, proactively integrate into the world economy; economic development while ensuring social progress and equality; and the Party building work. The President emphasized the necessary research of both theoretical and practical issues relating to the amendment and supplement of the 1992 Constitution.
