(VOVworld)- The third Vietnam – China border defense friendship exchange is underway in the Vietnamese northern border province of Lang Son and the Chinese province of Guangxi from March 28-31.

At a seminar in Lang Son on Monday, Deputy Defense Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh called for active involvement by of local authorities and close coordination between border defense forces to create a border of peace and friendship that facilitate economic growth. Vinh said the exchange is meant to foster trust, friendship and solidarity between the two peoples and armies, particularly border people and border defense forces and discredit false allegations by subversives. Qi Jianguo, Deputy Chief of the General Staff Department of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, said joint work by border soldiers is laying a solid foundation for Vietnam – China relations. Both sides expressed a determination to build a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and long-term development, with a view to developing the Vietnam - China comprehensive strategic partnership in a practical, stable and sustainable manner.
