To begin with, the Government observed a minute of silence in tribute to the late Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, an exceptionally outstanding, steadfast, and prestigious leader who devoted his entire life to the revolutionary cause of the Party and people and an example of learning and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thoughts, morality, and lifestyle.
The Prime Minister and delegates also congratulated President To Lam on being elected by the Party Central Committee with 100% votes to serve as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Prime Minister Chinh said that the socio-economic performance in July and the first seven months was better than June and the same period last year in almost all areas. Growth was stimulated in all three sectors of industry, agriculture, and services. The macroeconomy was stable, inflation controlled, major balances guaranteed and there was a surplus; social security was guaranteed; national sovereignty, political security, social order and safety were maintained; foreign affairs were promoted; and the country's profile continued to be enhanced.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh pointed out key tasks and solutions in August and beyond, saying “Our goals will not change, we must maintain macroeconomic stability and control inflation within the limits allowed by the National Assembly. Growth must be stimulated more strongly. Major balances must ensure higher surpluses. Public debt, government debt, and budget overspending must be well controlled. We must ensure political stability and social order and safety. National border sovereignty is immutable and we must do it right.”
The Prime Minister requested all levels, sectors and localities to closely watch the global and domestic situation to adopt timely, flexible and effective policy responses and solutions and strive to achieve the goals and accomplish tasks of 2024.
