(VOVWORLD) - Party General Secretary and President To Lam said that Vietnam will continue to work with Laos to preserve and nurture the great friendship and special solidarity between the two nations, making them more substantive, extensive, and effective across the board.

Mr. Lam was speaking during talks in Hanoi on Tuesday with Party General Secretary and President of Laos, Thongloun Sisoulith, who is on a state visit to Vietnam until Friday.
The Vietnamese top leader said the visit by General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith and his spouse holds special significance, contributing to strengthening and elevating the comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and countries.
“It is a testament to the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, which are striving to implement the resolutions of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 11th National Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party. Both sides are also actively preparing for the upcoming national congresses of each Party in a rapidly changing and complex international context," said Mr. Lam.
Both leaders agreed to deepen political relations, strengthen mutual understanding, and solidify trust, considering it the core foundation guiding the overall cooperation between the two countries.
The two sides will continue to share information, exchange ideas, and coordinate on strategic issues, as well as to promote education and communication on the special Vietnam-Laos relationship and the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia relationship, particularly among the younger generations.
The leaders agreed to enhance cooperation in defense and security, ensuring mutual support to effectively address increasingly diverse and complex security challenges.
They saw eye to eye on the importance of improving cooperation in economics, culture, and science and technology and in strengthening institutional, infrastructure, transportation, telecommunications, and tourism connectivity to foster long-term cooperation and development for both nations, as well as to promote the overall connectivity of the three economies of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.
