Chairman Hue said that last year, Hanoi basically achieved its overall socio-economic goals with culture, education and training achieving encouraging results and tourism recovering strongly and becoming a "bright spot" of the whole country. Transport infrastructure was invested coordinately and major projects were started, completed or put into operation.

He requested Hanoi to work on far-sighted development strategies and set its requirements higher than other localities. The top legislator urged the capital city to create breakthroughs in culture and cultural industry and raise the young generation’s awareness on the capital city’s role.

“Continue to thoroughly grasp and raise awareness of the particularly important position, role and responsibility of developing the thousand-year-old cultural and heroic Hanoi Capital, a Creative City, a City for Peace, the national political and administrative center, and a big center of culture, education and training, science and technology, economics and international integration."

"Efforts should be made to build Hanoi into a driving force of the Red River Delta, the northern key economic region and the whole country, to be on par with the capitals of developed countries in the region," according to Mr. Hue.
