(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese boxer Tran Van Thao is set to compete in the upcoming WBO Global Title Match, scheduled to take place at The Grand Ho Tram Strip in Ba Ria - Vang Tau province in mid-November.

Thao, also know as “Mayweather Vietnam”, will be competing against Kenbun Torres from Mexico in the bantamweight category at the highly anticipated WBO Global Title Match.
This event will mark Thao's much-awaited return to the boxing ring after his triumphant victory over Andrew Laurio from the Philippines, where he secured the International Boxing Association (IBA) belt. Thao's win was not only a significant milestone in his career but also a proud moment for Vietnamese boxing, as he became the first-ever IBA champion representing Vietnam.
Thao had previously claimed the World Boxing Council (WBC) Asian Boxing Council Super Fly title in 2017. His impressive knockout against George Lumoly from Indonesia in Bangkok, Thailand earned him this prestigious title.
Alongside Tran Van Thao, another talented local boxer, Thai Hoang Huy, will also be competing in the tournament. Huy will face off against his formidable opponent, Maobi Ngaka from Botswana, who is nicknamed "The Eagle."
