Trang An Landscape Complex celebrates 10 years of UNESCO recognition

(VOVWORLD) - Ninh Binh province on Friday celebrated a decade of UNESCO recognition of the Trang An Landscape Complex as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage Site.

At the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang described the Complex as a special highlight of nature and the people of Ninh Binh, noting that it is the first mixed heritage site in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

The site is now regarded as a global role model for the successful combination between economic and sustainable tourism development and nature conservation, harmonizing the interests of the people, businesses, and the State. The Trang An Landscape Complex has become a symbol of Vietnam's commitment to fulfilling UNESCO's convention on the protection of the world's cultural and natural heritage, Deputy PM Quang said. 

President of the 42nd General Conference of UNESCO Simona-Mirela Miculescu said that the commemorative ceremony honors the excellence in heritage conservation and sustainable development in the Trang An Landscape Complex. 

The Complex spans more than 12,000 ha in Ninh Binh province and comprises the Hoa Lu Ancient Capital, the Trang An-Tam Coc-Bich Dong Scenic Landscape, and the Hoa Lu special-use forest.
