(VOVworld) – US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday, officially pulling the US out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement.

Mr. Trump's executive order, issued on his first day in office, fulfilled a campaign pledge. He criticized the trade deal as a "potential disaster” that would harm US manufacturing and cost millions of American jobs.
The TPP, involving the US and 11 Asia-Pacific partners, was adopted in October, 2015. The agreement is now undergoing a ratification process. Other TPP members are considering implementing the agreement without the US.
