(VOVworld) – Tunisia’s government raised its terror alert to the highest level and tightened security in its capital Tunis after the daily news Assabah reported on Wednesday that the Islamic States is planning for simultaneous attacks in Tunis.

Earlier, Tunisian security forces arrested 5 terror suspects at Monastir airport as they attempted to return to Libya using fake passports. Police also captured Atef Thouadi, known as Abou Mossaab Al Tounssi, who is believed to be involved in several terror attacks and preached on IS ideology in Tunis in 2013.
Tunisia on Monday decided to extend a nationwide state of emergency for one month following a series of suicide bombings by IS in Tunis since last November.
