The Indian Embassy in Vietnam said the ship visit is very special because it coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Vietnam.
There will be professional exchanges between naval officers of the two countries and meetings with Vietnamese Government officials. The Indian Navy delegation will also visit historical sites in and around Ho Chi Minh City, as well as join sporting events.
Naval ship tours will be organized for friends of India in Ho Chi Minh City.
After the port visit, the Indian Navy and Vietnam People's Navy will conduct PASSEX (Passage Exercise), which is normally undertaken whenever an opportunity arises, in contrast to pre-planned maritime drills.
