(VOVWORLD) - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) reopened all of its land, sea and air entry points with Qatar starting on Saturday, state news agency (WAM) reported. The reopening of its border is critical as the UAE prepares to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

At the 41st Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit in Riyadh this week, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, and Egypt agreed to restore full ties with Qatar.
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan hailed the breakthrough between Gulf Arab states and Qatar, saying the move to restore ties and lift restrictions was "very beneficial" for the region.
Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, and Egypt cut diplomatic ties with Qatar in 2017, followed by a full embargo, over accusations that Qatar had funded and supported terrorist organizations, for which Qatar denied.
