(VOVworld) – UK Ambassador to the EU Ivan Rogers has resigned just before the start of formal Brexit talks.

Sir Ivan has clashed with other cabinet members over the Brexit process. The UK government plans to trigger article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty to officially start Brexit talks. Mr. Rogers, one of the most experienced EU experts, was expected to play a key role in the tasks. Former Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg called Sir Ivan’s resignation a serious blow to Britain’s Brexit plan, but said a successor could be in place before negotiations start.
