(VOVWORLD) - British MPs have passed historic legislation to delay article 50, forcing the government to set out its timetable for the length of the Brexit delay in order to prevent the UK exiting the EU with no deal.
The bill, which staves off the scenario of the UK crashing out of the European Union without a deal on Friday, pushed for a parliament consultancy before PM Theresa May attends an EU summit in Brussels. Former labour minister Yvette Cooper, among those who tabled the legislation, said parliament has voted against the damage and chaos that No Deal would cause for jobs, manufacturing, medicinal supplies, policing and security.
Before an emergency European summit on Wednesday, PM May will travel to Paris and Berlin on Tuesday to make the case for extending article 50 for a few months.
