Under the newly approved resolution, the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council is authorised to freeze properties, limit commercial travel, restrict or ban other means of transportation via Ukraine, stop capital withdrawal, halt the fulfilment of economic and financial duties, and withdraw licences.
The Ukrainian Parliament enacted regulations restricting or prohibiting passage through Ukraine’s territorial waters, seaports, and airspace and cancelling economic, security, and defense contracts. Ukraine’s list of sanctions against Russia includes a halt in cultural exchanges, scientific co-operation, granting visas to Russian citizens, and official visits.
Aleksander Turchinov, the Ukrainian Parliament Speaker, said the parliament’s resolution on Thursday will be the basis for any future sanctions.
