229 lawmakers voted in favor allowing foreign nationals to serve in the Ukrainian armed forces on a contractual basis. Under the new law, foreigners who join the Ukrainian armed forces legally commit to follow Ukraine’s constitution and conscientiously carry out the duties of a military serviceman. Lawmakers had earlier approved a law that simplifies the process for foreigners serving in the Ukrainian Army to receive citizenship.
