Ukraine's EU candidacy is a 'domestic' European issue, Kremlin says
(VOVWORLD) - The European Union's decision to grant Ukraine official EU candidate status was a "domestic" matter, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday.
But he emphasized that it is very important that all these processes do not bring more problems to Russia and more problems in the relations of the involved countries with Russia. Regarding Moscow's relations with the European Union, he said that it would be "very difficult to spoil them further."
On Thursday EU leaders accepted Ukraine and Moldova as membership candidates, according to European Council President Charles Michel. The Council will take the next steps after the candidate countries meet the conditions set forth by the European Commission.
