Ukraine’s President appoints acting Prime Minister
First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Arbuzov is appointed Acting Prime Minister
(VOVworld) - Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovich signed a decree to expand the power of First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Arbuzov and appoint him as Acting Prime Minister. Mr. Arbuzov replaces former Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, who resigned along with his cabinet on January 28
th after 4 years in office.
Mr. Yanukovich has also applied a series of personnel changes in the Security Agency including the appointment of a new Director of the Intelligence Department and replacing the heads of security agencies of 4 provinces where their headquarters were occupied by the protestors.
Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka has said that if the protesters don’t withdraw from the administrative agencies before February 17, law enforcement agencies will act in line with their duties in the Criminal Procedural law.
