UN, African Union condemn coup plot in Sudan
(VOVWORLD) -UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday sharply condemned an attempted coup in Sudan, vowing to stand by the internationally recognized government.

Guterres warned "any effort to undermine Sudan's political transition will jeopardize the hard-earned progress made on the political and economic fronts". In a statement, the Secretary-General calls on all parties to remain committed to the transition and the realization of the aspirations of the Sudanese people for an inclusive, peaceful, stable, and democratic future.
The African Union also denounced the coup plot. The UK, the US and Norway have voiced their support to the Sudanese government and opposed any attempts to deviate Sudanese effort in peace building for democracy and prosperity.
