(VOVWORLD) - UN sanctions experts are asking global commodity trading firms and oil companies to list the steps they are taking to prevent illegal oil shipments from reaching North Korea, said Hugh Griffiths, coordinator of the UN panel of experts on North Korea.

He said that in May the panel sent requests to 24 major global commodity trading companies that focus on oil. But he didn’t mention the name of the companies. Illegal oil and refined petroleum shipments to North Korea are still being delivered, despite UN Security Council sanctions, he said.
