The UN General Assembly holds a special meeting to commemorate all victims of the second World War at the UN headquarters in New York on May 5, 2015.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon recalled the hope of UN founders to save mankind from the scourge of war and build a better future for succeeding generations. Although the war ended 70 years ago, Ban said the world is still struggling to give all people everywhere a peaceful, prosperous, and happy life, urging for international solidarity to realise the goal idea of the UN founders.
