(VOVworld) - UN envoy Martin Kobler travelled to the seat of Libya's internationally recognized parliament on Sunday to "help" with the vote of confidence on a national unity government for the crisis-torn country.

Mr. Kobler said he was there to help, not to interfere. On Saturday Libya's prime minister-designate, Fayez al-Sarraj, presented the programme of his unity government to the parliament of the internationally recognized government prior to the vote on confidence on Tuesday.
Libya has been torn by strife since the rebellion to overthrow leader Moamer Kadhafi. The General National Congress, the outgoing parliament, set up a government in Tripoli in August, 2014 with the support of Muslim rebels. This forced the internationally recognized government to move to Tobruk in eastern Libya.
