The resolution called for “intensified international cooperation, multilateralism, and solidarity to contain, mitigate and overcome the pandemic and its consequences.” It recognized WHO’s key leadership and the UN’s fundamental role in coordinating global responses to the COVID-19.
The resolution supported the UN Secretary General’s call for an immediate global ceasefire, highlighted concern of the pandemic’s effects to nations suffering from conflicts, and backed UN’s peacekeeping activities. It called all UN members and related organizations to promote unity and solidarity in coping with the COVID-19 pandemic and preventing racism, xenophobia, violence, and discrimination.
