UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon hails the of victory over fascism
(VOVworld) – UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon joined world leaders at a ceremony in the Polish port of Gdansk to mark the 70
th anniversary of the end of
World War Two in Europe. In his remarks, Ban said the various commemorative ceremonies taking place throughout Europe and beyond remind everybody of the tremendous shared sacrifice and the huge price of victory over fascism, paid through countless lost lives and devastating destruction. He said the key principles of the Charter and all modern principles of international law were formulated as direct responses to war: non-aggression, the peaceful settlement of disputes and respect for human rights.

Ban will visit Ukraine before going to Moscow to attend a ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of the victory over fascism scheduled for this Saturday.
