(VOVWORLD) - The World Food Programme will ship 50,000 tons of wheat flour to Beirut, enough to supply Lebanon for three months, to avert a food crisis following last week’s explosion in Beirut that killed 158 people, said the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs on Tuesday.

The deadly blast completely demolished the biggest privately-owned grain silos in Beirut.
The shipments will ensure there is no food shortage in Lebanon, the Office said. The first batch of 17,500 tons will arrive in 10 days.
