(VOVWORLD) - The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) launched a new project on Tuesday to improve Vietnam’s implementation of the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC).

The 27-month project is expected to help enhance the effective measurement and monitoring of SDG anticorruption targets for anti-corruption agencies, and increase participation in the anti-corruption fight.
It also aims to strengthen anti-corruption legal framework and law enforcement and recommendations on preventive measures and asset recovery; and improve capacity in good governance, transparency, and integrity in public health procurement in Vietnam.
The UN Convention against Corruption is the only legally binding universal anti-corruption instrument. The Convention and its Implementation Review Mechanism have been critical in stimulating anti-corruption reforms and strengthening national commitments against corruption. Vietnam ratified the Convention in 2009 and has since continued strengthening its implementation.
