UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon
(VOVworld) – UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon revealed the organization’s action program for next year at UN Headquarters in New York on Wednesday. Mr. Ban said that the year 2015 must be a time for global action to address four imperatives.
They include forging a new development agenda for securing a climate change agreement, ending the nightmare in Syria and averting the escalation of other worrying situations, countering extremism and the rise of far-right political parties that target minorities, migrants and in particular Muslims, and continuing to adapt the United Nations to a new global landscape.
Mr. Ban said a number of key UN initiatives will come to fruition in 2015 including peace operations, humanitarian financing, and implementation of the UN Security Council’s landmark resolution 1325 on women, peace, and security.
