The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations' highest distinction recognizes Ambassador Kritenbrink's active contributions to developing friendly relations and effective cooperation between the Vietnamese and Americans, promoting and deepening the comprehensive partnership between the two countries.
The US Ambassador said he is proud to represent the US government and people in Vietnam because he can directly contribute to and witness the strong development of the cooperative ties between the US and Vietnam. Kritenbrink said that no matter what position he holds, he always loves the country and people of Vietnam and will return to Vietnam.
"Again, I think our futures are intertwined. Vietnam's success is America's success. We truly are trusted partners prospering together. I can assure you that Vietnam and Vietnamese people always hold a very special place in my heart," said Kritenbrink.
"And if the Senate is willing to confirm me, I hope that in my next position, I can be one of the strongest advocates in Washington for the US-Vietnam partnership and friendship in the years ahead. And it's more than anything that makes me so happy. So again, I will never forget the kindness and the generosity that you've shown to me," he added.
Daniel Kritenbrink has been US Ambassador to Vietnam since 2017. On March 26, 2021, President Joe Biden announced his intent to nominate Kritenbrink as Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs.
