(VOVWORLD) - US Attorney General William Barr gave blanket authorization on Monday for federal prosecutors to open investigations into alleged voting irregularities in the US presidental election.

Such inquiries and reviews may be conducted if there are clear and apparently-credible allegations of irregularities that, if true, could potentially impact the outcome of a federal election in an individual state, said Barr.
Last Saturday, most major US news agencies projected Democratic candidate Joe Biden the winner. President Donald Trump, however, said there was voter fraud and he would not accept the result.
Trump’s layers have filed lawsuits in several states that Mr. Biden had won to invalidate the count released by election officials. Trump accused election officials of not allowing representatives of his campaign to observe the vote counting and said there were many illegal ballots in multiple states, including Michigan, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.
