US calls on G7 to speak “in a clear voice” about the Hamas-Israel conflict

Blinken said at the start of the two-day meeting in Tokyo that this is a very important moment for the G7 to come together in the face of this crisis and speak in one clear voice. Blinken added, without providing details, that in the days ahead assistance will expand in significant ways.
A key ally of Israel, the US has resisted calling for a ceasefire.
In the latest statement released on Monday, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the fighting will continue until Israel has restored "overall security" control of Gaza.
During the conference, G7 foreign ministers will also discuss the Russia-Ukraine conflict, developments in the Indo-Pacific region, North Korea's nuclear threat, and the G7's efforts to strengthen cooperation with Central Asia.
