At a meeting with Senator John McCain, Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, and Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy, ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee, Vinh reviewed US-Vietnam relations in politics, economics, investment, education, tourism, science, and technology.

Senator McCain said he will do his utmost to boost relations with Vietnam, and Congresswoman Murphy agreed to promote a dialogue to strengthen cooperation and mutual understanding.

The first Vietnamese-American woman ever elected to Congress, and the second Vietnamese-American after Joseph Cao, Ms. Murphy said she will work to help the Vietnamese community in the US and connect Florida businesses with Vietnamese businesses.

On April 26, Vinh and ambassadors from other ASEAN members met with Congressmen Ann Wagner and Joaquin Castro, Co-Chairs of the Congressional Caucus on ASEAN. Vinh praised the Caucus and said he will help the Caucus organize activities this year to celebrate ASEAN’s 50th anniversary and the 40th anniversary of US-ASEAN relations.
