(VOVworld) – Senior officials from the US and Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) held talks in Beijing on Thursday, their first such meeting since the death of Kim Jong-il late last year. The two sides were expected to discuss nuclear disarmament, non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, and humanitarian relief. Washington is looking to resume the six-party talks on Pyongyang’s nuclear program, involving China, Japan, Russia, the US, and the two Koreas. US special envoy Glyn Davies told reporters that the resumption of the multilateral talks depends on Pyongyang.
