(VOVworld) -The US military has launched its first airstrikes against the Taliban in Afghanistan since President Barack Obama's decision earlier this month to expand America's involvement against the insurgents.

Washington will conduct more airstrikes against insurgents, empowering the US military to support Afghan forces, both in the air and on the ground amidst escalating violence in this Southwest Asia country. However, this new policy does not mean that the US troop will assist Afghanistan military in daily missions, but only in necessary cases of needed.
