(VOVWORLD) - The USS Blue Ridge arrived at Cam Ranh Bay alongside the US Coast Guard on Monday to begin a five-day visit in central Khanh Hoa Province.

The ship carries over 1,000 officers and personnel and is accompanied by the US Coast Guard vessel, the Waesche. At a reception for the delegation, Le Huu Hoang, Vice Chairman of the Khanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee, expressed his wish that the US Embassy will continue to implement projects to build schools and clinics for poor communes in the province and coordinate to host the Pacific Partnership Program in the 2025-2026 period.
Mr. Hoang said: “We hope the US Embassy will continue to support us in culture, people-to-people exchanges, and tourism communication by using online media to widely and quickly approach American tourists. We propose to invite Fam Trip, Press Trip, Mediatrip delegations from US states to Khanh Hoa province to survey outstanding tourism products and services here.”
During the five-day visit, U.S. naval personnel will meet officials from the Khanh Hoa People’s Committee and the local navy. Vice Admiral Fred Kacher, Commander of the 7th Fleet, US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper, and the Commanders of the two ships paid a courtesy visit to the leaders of Khanh province. The 7th Fleet Band will perform music at Nha Trang Park and the crews will attend a culture exchange at Khanh Hoa University and meet with the children at the Mai am Center in Cam Ranh city.
