US President Donald Trump has approved a four-point policy on North Korea that involves applying "every possible pressure" while looking for a diplomatic solution, a South Korean lawmaker said Thursday. A bipartisan group of South Korean politicians met with Joseph Yun, the US special representative for North Korea policy, who briefed them on the Trump administration's new approach to Pyongyang. Trump signed a comprehensive policy report from the State Department about two weeks ago, which outlines four strategies: withholding recognition of North Korea as a nuclear state; imposing every possible sanction and pressure; not seeking a regime change; and ultimately resolving all differences through dialogue.
The US Senate introduced a bill to restrict American tourist travel to North Korea because of the threat of US citizens being detained there for diplomatic “leverage”.
