According to US media reports, General Haugh and his civilian deputy at the NSA, Ms. Wendy Noble, were both relieved of their duties on April 3.
CBS News cited a source stating that USCYBERCOM Deputy Director, Lieutenant General William Hartman, will serve as Acting NSA Director.
In a brief statement released on Friday afternoon, Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell expressed gratitude for General Haugh’s “decades of service to the nation” but did not provide a reason for the dismissal. The move follows the earlier removal or reassignment of at least six officials from the National Security Council (NSC).
