(VOVworld) – The 48^th Democratic National Convention (DNC) opened Monday in Philadelphia to choose the Democratic nominee for the US Presidential election on November 8.

The 4-day event convenes 4,765 delegates. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Virginia Senator Tim Kaine are expected to be officially nominated for President and Vice President. The delegates will also draft the final Democratic platform.

The Democratic National Convention follows by one week the Republican Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, where Donald Trump and Mike Pence became the Republican nominees for President and Vice President.
