US proposal to drop trade barriers taken seriously by G7 members
(VOVWORLD) - US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin says the G7 are taking seriously his call for them to drop tariffs and non-tariff trade barriers, adding that the Trump administration will press for this in upcoming talks with the European Union’s top executive.

Mnuchin said at a Sunday news conference at the close of a G20 finance leaders meeting that President Trump’s trade stance is not about protectionism but about wanting free and fair trade for the US.
He said he had no substantive discussions on trade with China's finance minister at the G20 gathering, but added that any time China wants to negotiate meaningful changes, the US is available.
