The announcement was made one day after the Syrian government for the first time expressed its willingness to cooperate with the international community including Washington and London to tackle IS extremist fighters.
The US has already begun surveillance flights over Syria but Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem made it clear that Syria will not accept unilateral military strikes by the United States or any other country. He warned that any violation of Syrian sovereignty will be considered an act of aggression.
