(VOVworld) - US Secretary of State John Kerry visited Djibouti Wednesday, the first US Secretary of State to visit that country.

Speaking at Salman Mosque, Djibouti’s biggest mosque, Kerry said Djibouti has made significant contributions to pushing back against extremism. During his meeting with Djibouti's President Ismail Omer Guelleh, Kerry said the US could not participate in the fight against extremism in Africa and Yemen without the help from Djibouti.
Earlier, Kerry met with Djibouti’s Foreign Minister Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Minister for Muslim Affairs Aden Hassan Aden, representatives of social organizations, and religious leaders.
