(VOVWORLD) - Asian Americans in the US reported 3,800 hate-related incidents in less than a year during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a report released Tuesday by Stop Asian American Pacific Islander Hate, a leading aggregator of incidents against Asian Americans.

Types of discrimination range from verbal harassment, shunning, and online harassment, to physical assault and civil rights violations, said the report, adding that 2.3 times women more than men reported hate incidents. Chinese reported the most incidents, followed by Koreans and Vietnamese.
The number of hate incidents reported are only a fraction of the hate incidents that actually occur, but it shows how vulnerable Asian Americans are to discrimination, and the types of discrimination they face. The authors of the report said hate incidents will not abate unless we demand concrete action.
