(VOVWORLD) - The US Senate on Thursday voted 94-1 for a hate crimes bill to combat violence against Asian Americans in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hate crimes against Asian Americans rose 149% in 16 cities in the US last year.
The Biden administration has already implemented several measures to reduce Asian discrimination, including 50 million USD in the COVID-19 bailout package to help victims of domestic violence and sexual assault who are of Asian or Pacific Island descent.
