With 54 votes in favor and 41 against, senators adopted a resolution ending the declaration which is seen to allow President Trump to establish a fund to build his proposed border wall using financial resources without the Congress’s approval. The fund is in part resourced from the Department of Defense.
The resolution was backed by 11 Republican senators due to concerns that Trump’s actions may set a dangerous precedent in subverting congressional approval.
