(VOVworld) - The United States has criticized China for carrying out state-sponsored cyber attacks targeting Washington’s federal employees data.

Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said at an intelligence conference in Washington earlier this month that the Chinese government is the top suspect in the case of a massive hack of 14 million US federal employees’ data, those both retired and are still working.

Clapper said US authorities were conducting investigations. This was the first time the Obama administration has officially condemned Beijing over conducting such an attack. One week ago, officials in charge of the investigation said that it was likely that the Chinese government, not individual hackers, were the culprits.
