The US Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Russel

(VOVworld)- The US Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Russel will travel to Myanmar to attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Senior Officials’ Meetings for the East Asia Summit, the ASEAN Regional Forum, the Lower Mekong Initiative, and the Friends of the Lower Mekong between June 7–9.  Mr. Russel will also join officials from Japan and Australia for a meeting as part of the longstanding Trilateral Strategic Dialogue. On June 10, Mr. Russel will co-lead the U.S.–ASEAN Dialogue and hold bilateral meetings with counterparts on a range of issues. He will also meet with a group of talented Burmese youth leaders, including members of the Young Southeast Asian Youth Leaders Initiative (YSEALI), to discuss ways the region’s youth can help shape the future of ASEAN.
