(VOVWORLD) - Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday announced a "pause in certain foreign assistance programs" to Gabon after a military takeover in the country last month.

This is the US’s first official response to the takeover.
The statement did not elaborate on what US-funded programs would be affected or how much money would be placed on hold.
This interim measure is consistent with steps taken by regional organizations and other countries, and will continue while the US reviews the situation in Gabon, Blinken said.
