US to begin clinical trial for coronavirus vaccine

(VOVWORLD) - A clinical trial to evaluate a vaccine designed to protect against the new coronavirus will begin on Monday, an unnamed US government official said.
45 young, healthy volunteers will be tested with varying doses of the vaccine co-developed by the NIH and the Massachusetts biotechnology company Moderna. Participants do not risk getting infected by the vaccine because it does not contain the virus.
The tests will look for possible side effects. Public health officials say it takes a year to 18 months to fully validate any potential vaccine.
