(VOVWORLD) - Bloomberg reports that the US and UK imposed sanctions Thursday on four senior Houthi militants as the group continues its attacks on ships transiting the Red Sea. The four Houthis will be subject to asset freezes and travel bans.

Britain plans to announce new sanctions in the coming days targeting Houthi financing of attacks, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said Tuesday. He said Britain is working closely with the US on this.
Meanwhile, the Houthis vowed to continue targeting ships linked to Israel until aid reaches the Palestinian people in Gaza.
Yemen’s Houthi leader, Abdel-Malek al-Houthi, said Thursday that the latest US and British sanctions will be counterproductive and will not affect Houthi will and determination.
