(VOVworld) – The 7th US-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue will be co-chaired by US Secretary of State John Kerry, Secretary of the Treasury Jacob Lew, and Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang and State Councilor Yang Jiechi in Washington on June 23-24. The two sides will discuss opportunities and challenges facing their economies, policies, and bilateral, and multilateral relations in short and long terms.
The fifth round of High-Level Consultation on People-to-People Exchange (CPE) will be hosted by John Kerry and Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong. They will exchange measures to boost relations in education, culture, science, sports, healthcare and women related issues.
The East Sea issue will be high on the agenda of the US-China strategic dialogue. US Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Russel told a press conference in Washington that that the freedom of air and maritime navigation in the East Sea is being threatened.
Russel expressed the US concern over China’s illegal construction and militarization of artificial islands in the East Sea which have gone against effort to reduce tension in this region. He urged China to stop its construction and resolve territorial disputes in the East Sea through diplomatic channels and international arbitration.
