(VOVworld) – On Wednesday, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the National Assembly Economic Committee issued the 2015 Vietnamese Business Annual Report on relations between business development and agricultural production growth.

Agriculture plays an important role in assuring national food security, poverty reduction and is a major foreign currency generator. But Vietnamese agriculture is still backward compared to other countries in the region. Mai Xuan Hung, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Economic Committee, said in order to overcome the shortcomings, it was essential to get business involved in order to improve the quality of agricultural produce: “Despite difficult economic conditions, agriculture remains one of the main pillars of the economy. We hope that the connection between farmers, enterprises, cooperatives and scientific organizations will be effective in improving the quality of agricultural products, promote exports and increase competitiveness”.
