President Maduro said opposition leader Juan Guaido violated the Constitution when he named himself "Interim President ".
Venezuela began to sink deeper into a political crisis after Juan Guaido, who took the helm of the National Assembly on January 5, proclaimed himself interim president last Wednesday until a transitional government can be created and elections held. Some countries in the region, including the US, Canada, and Brazil, as well as the Organization of American States (OAS), have recognized Interim President Guaido. But other countries, including Cuba, Mexico, Turkey, and Russia have expressed support for President Maduro's government and condemned Gauido’s actions as a coup attempt.
